Meet

Oliver “Banjo” Winston Fisher Forbs

My name is Oliver Winston Fisher Forbs, though to most islanders and the many tourists I’ve welcomed—many of whom have become lifelong friends—I’m better known simply as Banjo. I was born and raised in Coxen Hole, the cultural and economic heart of Roatán, in the Bay Islands of Honduras. As the second eldest of nine siblings, I grew up in a bilingual household, fluent in both English and Spanish—a gift that continues to serve me and my clients to this day. My mother, a remarkable woman who raised us in the absence of our father, taught me the values of hard work, responsibility, and family. From a young age, I helped support our household by selling the baked goods and pastries she prepared. While other children were playing, I was learning what it meant to contribute—to serve, to provide, and to carry the weight of responsibility with pride. At just 12 years old, I began working at the Roatán airport as a porter. My goal was clear: to ensure that my siblings and I had food on the table and access to a proper education. During those years, I balanced work with school, eventually completing high school while also making one of the most important decisions of my life—accepting Christ as my Lord and Savior. Today, with over 30 years of experience as a professional porter and a lifetime spent on this island, I’ve built more than a career—I’ve cultivated a calling. I take great pride in offering personalized, dependable service, ensuring every client feels safe, respected, and genuinely welcomed. Whether you’re visiting Roatán for the first time or returning to your home away from home, it is my joy and privilege to serve you. Welcome to Roatán. Welcome to my island.
